My sisters and I stayed at this hotel for a few nights. We came from California to visit the famous place of St. Thérèse (or Saint Thérèse). We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff treated us with kindness and were super helpful. They were not annoyed with our endless questions and requests. We liked their buffet spread. We highly recommend this hotel. Our thanks to all the staff.

I stayed for 4 nights as part of a Solos tour with Riviera.|The hotel is centrally located and clearly used to dealing with a number of tour groups at any one time which they did very efficiently, especially at breakfast with set times. This was great for us as a tour group that wanted to get out for the day but would probably be a distraction if you staying as a couple.|The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of the Basilica.|Its an older building and the main hall is very attractive. My room was comfortable and what you would expect for an older hotel.|The reception and bar staff were all very helpful.|The food was okay and a little disappointing if I am honest.|Overall a great base for our 4 night holiday visiting Normandy.

😊: Clean, very comfortable hotel in a central location, ideal for visiting the sights in Lisieux. Sumptuous buffet breakfast in a typically French dining room. Very helpful staff who reserved us a parking bay in their undercover secure (CCTV) car park next door (20 euros ?). We were able to leave the car parked the following morning whilst we explored the city.

Centrally placed hotel, very comfortable bed, excellent shower, very clean rooms.Chambermaid service each day is excellent.|Breakfast is fine, but evening meals only average. Few vegetables.|Our tour leader's task was made more difficult by mixed messages from hotel staff regarding seating arrangements at breakfast, timings of meals and vacation of rooms.|The welcome booklet in the room states breakfast 07.00-10.00, and checkout 11.00.|On our last day we were told the kitchen closes for breakfast at 09.00, and we had to vacate our rooms by 09.00 for the cleaners!|It is a pity that with some changes of attitude by the staff and management this could be excellent all round!

I went as part of a solos tour group tour. As a vegan I had researched this area of France as much as I was able to prior to arriving. I knew it would be extremely difficult so I emailed this hotel in advance to offer a couple of suggestions regarding breakfast. I hoped the hotel would at least make an effort. However, they only provided me with plant based milk and margarine. Despite me paying the same as everyone else on the tour, they had a great deal of choice for breakfast, but I only had tea, bread and jam and some poorly prepared fruit salad from a bowl. No protein provided, even though tofu, which I had suggested, was readily available from the local Bio supermarket and was very reasonable for them to provide. They basically did not care, even when the tour guide intervened, all I got was an avocado on the remaining few mornings. Vegans should not be discriminated against. The hotel was a conveyor belt of tour groups, highly regimented and impersonal. They only had a domestic two slice toaster for their guests....which was on it's last legs. How inappropriate!|Avoid, avoid, avoid especially if you are vegan.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights as part of our coach tour to the Normandy Beaches and Bayeux Tapestry. The hotel is perfectly situated for everything Lisieux has to offer. It has welcoming and efficient staff, a nice lounge bar area and the bedrooms are functional with comfy beds. The only thing that lets it down is the food. Now the breakfast was great with plenty of choice, but the evening dinner was ridiculous! On the first evening we were served a set meal of terrine as starter, chicken with a mushroom sauce and boiled potatoes for main and apple pie for dessert. The main meal came with no vegetables and there was no cream or crème fraiche with the apple pie. The rest of the weeks menu followed in a similar vein with absolutely no vegetables and terrine was offered on no less than 3 occasions as a starter! We were looking forward to sampling some French gastronomy, but were left bitterly disappointed! Coach parties beware!!

Hotel is a bit dated and rooms could do with upgrade. Breakfast is a good standard. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location in centre of town.

I was part of aa group staying here for four nights. The position of the hotel is very handy for sightseeing - especially the Basilica - but the hotel itself is very dated and in need of a refurb. which applies, in my case, to the windows, which had to be opened at night due to the oppressive heat. and kept open thanks to a couple of books.|The food we were offered was disgraceful, and on one occasion, every single piece of grossly overcooked Confit of Duck presented to our party of 40 was returned to the kitchen leaving us all with just a large amount of tasteless and bland rice.|It was obvious that those in control of the kitchen just couldn't cook!|I'm afraid my food experience at the Grand Hotel De L'Esperance was the worst I've had in any hotel or restaurant throughout the world and quite honestly, the management should be ashamed to provide such appalling food to its customers.|Needless to say, I won't be returning!
